The new President of Bank Association “Russia”chosen by the former first Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank
Members of the Association of regional banks of Russia (Association “Russia”) at the extraordinary General meeting appointed the new President of the Association of former first Deputy Chairman of the CBR George Luntovsky, it follows from the results of voting.
“I consider it an honor that proposal, which I did – to return to the Association to become its President and to work with you on resolving the challenges facing the banking community,” – commented on his appointment Luntovsky.
The former head of the Association, the Chairman of the state Duma Committee on Finance Anatoly Aksakov was relieved of his duties of President of the Association. “It is very important to change, fresh blood, fresh ideas. I believe that, after 11 years as President of the Association, I have fulfilled my mission. But I’m not going to leave, I will actively work on the Association. Our old team will be complemented by a new team that the Association has reached a new level,” – said Aksakov. The possible arrival of George Luntovsky in the Association “Russia” began to be discussed after a number of the largest Russian banks announced the withdrawal from ARB, expressed a desire to move the Association “Russia”. Around the same time, the Bank of Russia said that the Luntovsky will leave his post in Central Bank of the Russian Federation from September 1 on their own. Luntovsky from 1999 to 2005, he was Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. On March 16, 2005 was the first Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank.
